Question: Why is it when I log into the course all I see is a black screen?
Answer: The software required to run the course is Adobe Flash Player 8.0. Although you may have an earlier version of Flash Player installed the video within the course requires version 8.0. This download is available for free via the Web Links page on this web site.
Question: Why should I fill in the credentialing form on the web site
and when will it show up on my FCDICE profile?
Answer: The credentialing form is a direct link into the State of Florida FCDICE system. This is the main database that houses all student records for Firefighters in Florida. If ever you need proof that the course was completed the credentialing form must be completed.
We upload to the FCDICE during the first week of each month.
So for example if you took the course during the first part
of a given month it will show in your FCDICE profile during
the first week of the following month.
Question: Why is it when I log out of the course the computer that I am using did not remember where I left off?
Answer: The system will remember the screen you left off only if you log into the same physical computer you used to start the course. There is no way for the system to know where you left off if you started the course on one computer and want to finish on a totally different computer.
Question: Why are some of the pop up screens not appearing as they should?
Answer: Pop up blockers should be turned off to allow pop up to appear. Also if you have any type of tool bars such as Google Tool Bar they also have pop up blockers as part of the software. Be sure all are set to allow pop ups for this site.
Question: What happens if I do not want to provide my Social Security number on the web site?
Answer: You can complete the course and print your certificate but you will not be credentialed through FCDICE. This is a disadvantage as you will not receive applicable CEU's, or be able to prove course completion if your certificate has been misplaced. In addition you will not receive notification of any new courses that have been released.
Question: How can I log into the system to take the course if I am from out of the country and do not have a social security number?
Answer: You can enter 123-45-6789 into the social security field in the login portion of the course. Please note that you will not be able to be credentialed by the State of Florida.
Question: What is the certificate ID and why is it so important?
Answer: The certificate ID is an encrypted code that contains information relating to the course such as course code, exam grade, and a unique student ID that prevents other students from printing out certificates on the system. You should maintain a copy of the certificate ID so in the event that your certificate gets lost or stolen a replacement can be obtained.
Question: Is the web site secure as I am transmitting personal data through the credentialing page?
Answer: The credentialing page is secured using the same technology as banking institutions and can be verified live at the bottom of the credentialing page.
Question: When will other courses be up on the web site?
Answer: We are developing three additional courses now. Please check back often as they will be posted as they are completed. In addition if you have been credentialed you will receive an email notification when new courses are posted.
